The other 2 methods covered in this Adobe Photoshop CS5/CS4 tutorial, is done by using the blur tool. Although there are limitations with using the clarity tool in Camera RAW, this can save you time when using it for the right project.
One of the methods of obtaining that airbrush look is using Camera RAW’s clarity tool – this is very similar to Adobe’s Lightroom Brush Layer tool.
